Moravian Academy’s curriculum goes beyond standard coursework, combining academic depth with purposeful skill-building. From structured literacy and Singapore Math to Engineering & Design, Arts, and seminar-style discussion, our Signature Programs are designed to develop confident thinkers, communicators, and problem-solvers at every stage.

Structured Literacy (Lower School)
Evidence-based reading instruction using Fundations, Heggerty, and Fishtank Plus ELA to build strong foundations in reading, writing, and critical thinking.
Singapore Math
A mastery-based approach that emphasizes deep understanding, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning.
Engineering & Design
Integrated from Kindergarten through Grade 8 in the Imaginate Maker Space, where students design, build, and test real-world solutions.
Middle School Seminar & Leadership
Humanities classes use the Harkness Method to encourage discussion, collaboration, and independent thinking, supported by explicit public speaking instruction and a daily Advisory Program.
Science & Exploration
Hands-on science learning with opportunities like PJAS (Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science) in Middle School.

Engineering & Design is woven into the preschool to grade 8 experience at Swain, giving students regular opportunities to think, build, and test ideas. In the Imaginate Maker Space, learning is hands-on and practical—from first-grade sailboat races to designing hurricane-resistant homes in fifth grade.

“Having been at Swain since Preschool and finishing my journey this year, I have incredibly enjoyed my journey at Moravian Academy.
